‘Which fonts do you want for the sale poster?’

‘Yes’

#fonts #typography #museum #allthefonts

All the fonts, including a surprisingly modern 1960s style italic font, advertising the sale of Ashton Farm by auction at the Crown Hotel Bishops Waltham in 1908.

They should do a Colombian remake of Scooby Doo where the gang brings Pablo Escobar to justice and he says "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you Medellín kids"

Ha, no way. American Thanksgiving sounds objectively worse in every respect.

So... I just learned about Mary Toft (1726).

How the heck do people manage to keep making history seem boring?

Humans are outrageous, hilarious, scandelous, petty, creative, brave, disturbing, and ridiculous.

I don't really get how they survive here? I guess in a few years they'll mostly be gone.

It wasn't until many years later that I realized that no, its pretty much just those.

I don't feel like I watched a ton of movies as a child. Why the heck did I see THREE different parent traps?
a4rdvark.bsky.social
As a kid I watched The Parent Trap(1961), It Takes Two(1995), and the Parent Trap(1998) in the space of a few years.

After the 3rd I just kind of assumed that movies about separted twins trapping their parents was some sort of hollywood rite of passage all studios and actors had to do at least once

Booked. Amazing to see a situation where ADHD isn't costing me extra money.

My boss: so how's our fourth quarter looking?

Me, the sales manager at the company that makes inflatable frog suits: well, you're never going to believe this, but

I have a borscht problem. Unlike other soup/stews I make, it never tastes as good later?

While I'm making borscht I'm testing and adjusting. When done I feel like a soup genius who has totally nailed it this time.

And then I have some for lunch the next day and it's like: meh.

I voted in my municipal election for candidates that believe:

- Trans rights are human rights,
- Houseless people deserve shelter and support, and
- Kids should be able to walk or bike to school without getting run over.

I encourage others to do the same!

I love my CAT and I cannot lie.
She's a fluffy lil cutie pie.
When I dangle a string she always gives chase.
The I kiss her on her face.
She bleps her TONGUE...

As today is World Octopus Day I’ll again mention that a Spanish equivalent to “like a fish out of water” is como un pulpo en un garaje. It means “like an octopus in a garage.”

Sorry various journalists and other folk people doing their best to speak truth to power, but I need to do some unfollowing if I'm going to be on these platforms at all. I don't know how much more cortisol I can handle.

Flying cars are the perfect example of a point solution: trying to solve a systemic problem (traffic) with an individual product (fly over the traffic).

But traffic is not a technology problem; it's a social problem. Remote work, congestion fees, and dense transit-connected housing solve it better.
aelkus.bsky.social
which then begs the question of why you want flying cars instead of whatever mass transportation equivalent you imagine

Can't speak for anyone else, but I feel seen by this piece. It's a relief to see things I have struggled with reflected and be able to have a chuckle at them.

I also have a friend with ocd I plan to share this with later.
