Dusting off some J.K. Galbraith😺
Do our brains really vulcanize in our mid-30s, after which affirmation of our political beliefs is like crack, and contradictory ideas are bounced away like BBs off a truck tire?

34 people killed in 50 days. Their guilt or innocence unknown, for an alleged crime that doesn't carry a death sentence. That's a lot of death.

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

Just like Trumpsters, ackshully. Acuse one of being racist & watch the spittle fly.😺
My faves are the female anti-abortion fanatics who think they're basically good people despite accusing other women of being baby murderers worthy of the death penalty.
Self-righteousness is one hell of a drug.

The Archie Bunkers of today are just too damned bigoted & ugly? We been there, done that?

Also worth noting that he wrote that poem to amuse his children while he was waiting in line at the bank, and now every day someone is trying to tell us that you need AI to tell your kids a story.

Skill issue.
learned recently that the guy who wrote "The Night Before Christmas," clement clarke moore, also wrote a takedown of thomas jefferson's proto-scientific racism in "Notes on the State of Virginia," basically accusing him and others of making it up to justify slavery. which, that's right.
This is The Nation article I was remembering .

The Cruel World According to Stephen Miller
How did he become the Trump era’s architect of hate?
www.thenation.com
Man, Miller growing up in L.A. must have been terrorized, just terrorized, I tell you, by all those Hispanic people having a good time and building lives despite rich white racist snobs like him.

Just to note that while the video is amusing, this person posted as a way to peddle an AI-generated “resist” shirt via Amazon, and thus is as much a part of the problem as the hapless bigot shown here.

FT has the blow-by-blow which US media outlets were incapable of reporting with any accuracy. Note how Trump is little more than a sock puppet for Putin, doing his bidding... so the FT's read out is almost identical to the report in Kremlin TV, which in turn was based on Trump's report to Putin.

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

The 7 million Americans who took the streets for 'No Kings' made history, and they did something even more important

They got under the skin of Donald Trump and his dictatorial regime, on a day that showed that most Americans love democracy instead

Then they fight you: How the No Kings protests are winning America | Will Bunch
A massive turnout of 7 million and a panicked White House showed Saturday why the No Kings protests matter, a lot.
