Quite amazing that an increase of 0.1% could be described as "an expansion of GDP". The only thing expanding is a sense of infrastructural failure, scarcity and uncertainty.

"The Office for National Statistics said it had revised down July’s flatlining growth to a 0.1% contraction, limiting the rise in output over the three months to August to 0.3%" www.theguardian.com/business/202...

"ChatGPT’s contribution" - sorry but I just can't. Can't.
ernestopriego.com
1. ChatGPT on its own does not "author" outputs. It is not an autonomous system yet and all our current legal and ethical frameworks agree that authoring is a human activity.

2. Conflict of interest much?

"ChatGPT’s contribution also suggests that universities establish in their research offices dedicated teams that provide AI advisory services, and that funders and institutions “incorporate AI training into doctoral programmes, staff development and research methods curricula”.

For real.

"One chapter in the report, “Artificial intelligence and the future of research in universities”, is authored by the AI chatbot ChatGPT" (sic).

I had to read that several times to make sure it said what it said.

What could possibly go wrong in an increasingly deceptive, polarised and isolated social sphere? And surely everyone has already been thinking about that since day one, and not only after the OpenAI announcement on mental health issues?

It is possible to keep conscious critical boundaries as a user even with today’s tools but it is against the grain and most users might not have the capacity to do that sadly- the crux lies in human language as an intersubjective, deceptively reciprocal means of interaction with a non-human.
ernestopriego.com
I think the very model of a bot that communicates verbally as a human being was always-already a mental health dustbin fire and no amount of constraints or guidelines could “mitigate” issues. The very model depends on users establishing an intersubjective relationship with a non-human agent.

Finally been jabbed for Covid (last month) and flu (yesterday). Privately. Wasn't straight forward to get it done. Unless you are adamant on getting jabbed it's just easier, simpler, definitely less expensive to just carry on. May them offer some protection. 🙏

The importance of spaces for collective action, learning, and reflection are crucial, as is an openness to valuing processes of informal and non-formal learning and knowledge produced from within people’s everyday experience.” Choudry (2019): https://doi.org/10.1080/13642987.2019.1630382
