#Pinktober2025 Day 17: #SteppeBison
This #bison lived during the mid #Pleistocene to #Holocene. While the exact cause of its extinction is still debated, the fact that it was hunted by #Neanderthal & modern human alike suggests that humans played a big role in wiping this megafauna from existence.

This #SteppeBison was attacked by an American Lion 36,000 years ago. It survived the initial attack but later died due to injuries. His frozen corpse was discovered in 1979, in #Fairbanks Alaska by gold miners. He was given the name #BlueBabe due to the blue iron phosphate that tinted his skin.
