“Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young.”

I had a plot like that with my commander Snowmane and her future adjutant Alexei. They grew up together on a base and he initiated a closer relationship with her but their first kiss proved she was more duty-oriented and have not felt anything. They remained best friends despite incompatibility

So given that according to UmaMusume there are no actual horses, I present to you that famous horses from Fiction and History are actual girls that also embody their human riders.

IE: Red Hare from Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Snowmane from Lord of the Rings.

[...]but Théoden could not be overtaken. Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo!

Don’t white flowers grow on the place Snowmane is buried but the place where the fell beast died is blacked too? And the golden flowers on Glorfindel’s grave in Gondolin. How the bodies of the good feed the living world! I never like. Thought about it before this? But you’re so right it’s everywhere

A dream set would be Meduseld, the Golden Hall. Always loved the Rohan architecture with the horses. With Snowmane, Brego and Shadowfax.

In the "Lord of the Rings" Faramir intentionally drove the Mumakil into frenzy which then disrupted and broke the Haradrim lines.

At the battle of Pelenor Fields, Snowmane reared up and fell on Theoden
Full-blown militarized raid on horseback,
military tactical vehicles, and soldiers on foot with a perimeter set around McArthur Park.
Looks like a big show of force by ICE/Border Patrol.

En los primeros borradores de Tolkien, su nombre variaba: “Silverfax”, “Greyfax” o incluso “Snowmane” (este último se usó luego para el caballo de Théoden). El nombre final fue “Shadowfax”, literalmente “crin de sombra”.

King Theoden of Rohan, Marshal of the March, riding his horse, Snowmane! I tried to paint him exactly like the original, although he has a few personal touches!

Snowmane, descendiente de Felaróf, llevó a Théoden a su última batalla. Murió al caer, aplastando al rey. Lo enterraron con un túmulo: “Aquí cayó Snowmane, y Théoden, su señor.” ⚔️

Maybe that's Tolkien's experience of WW1 showing? You don't become a hero through killing someone. Pippin doesn't get nicknamed "Trollslayer". The only ones who get celebrated for killing are tragic: Durin's Bane or Snowmane "master's bane".

Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them.

The first time I cried over a book was for Snowmane’s death. Not Theoden. Snowmane.

Ah, sorry for the Snowmane slander. I think the siege of Vienna is absolutely an inspiration as well.

"The end will not be long," said the king. "But I will not end here, taken like an old badger in a trap. Snowmane and Hasufel and the horses of my guard are in the inner court. I will bid men sound Helm's horn, and I will ride forth."

Sobre a tradução de Snowmane como Snawmana, essa foi uma solicitação do próprio Tolkien no guia de tradução que ele fez quando O Senhor dos Anéis começou a ser traduzido para outras línguas.

"Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, & he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Orome the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young."

For those who read this in 1955, it would be 22 years until they'd learn who Orome was.
Having scattered the Orc-companies north and east of Minas Tirith, Théoden meets the first determined resistance: Haradrim under the flag of a black serpent on scarlet. He leads a charge, spurs directly into their ranks, kills their chieftain, and topples their standard.

A black dart hits Snowmane, who rears and falls—crushing King Théoden. The Witch-king’s carrion-bird digs its claws into the horse’s corpse.

A sword rings as it is drawn: Dernhelm will defend the king’s body.

The Witch-king taunts him. ‘Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!’

In the gloom of a day without dawn, Théoden on his horse Snowmane rides out from Dunharrow leading six thousand spears to war. They take paths leading downhill towards Edoras on the plain. Merry rides behind Éomer and the king, on his pony Stybba.

“The Ride of the Rohirrim”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a depiction of the Ride of the Rohirrim that’s as great as this.

Amidst the mess and chaos of battle, the Rohirrim led by Theoden stand out as they courageously charge into ehat could very well be their doom. (17/21)
