watched The First Slam Dunk at PVR and absolutely loved it. Im a huge fan of the manga and went in blind and was pleasantly surprised to discover it was an animated version of the final arc against Sannoh (my favorite sports manga arc ever) with a lot of extra backstory for Ryouta

immediately, out of all the characters in HiGH&LOW. The aesthetics, their rapport with each other, the way they'd straight up go to war for their own - couldn't help but think of how Kaneda is with his friends.

I watched The First Slam Dunk for Christmas and it’s an amazing movie. A great adaption of the Sannoh match but also a great story for Miyagi. Miyagi didn’t have a backstory in the manga so his backstory is great in here and I love how he has a moment with every single member and shows him (1/2)

somehow my flight had the slam dunk movie on it and it was both extremely good, interestingly animated, SUCH an interesting comparison of the og manga vs. the state of sports anime today with all the backstory additions to the sannoh match

THE FIRST : Slam Dunk is a GOOD movie.
But dunno how it's for people that never watched the original anime, because it just starts with their match against Sannoh with no introduction to the teams, tournament or characters besides Miyagi lol

En el 21, ¡En esta versión no existe el trasfondo de Ryota Miyagi que vimos en la película pero si hay muchos más personajes interactuando lo que hace más interesante el partido contra Sannoh! Esta edición tiene 10/10.

#daiyanoace the final half inning of the yakushi game has no dialogue but still manages to keep all the tension. shades of the final minute of the sannoh game in slam dunk. that's high praise because that SD chapter is one of the best chapters in sports manga

I really like Takehiko Inoue introducing a torrential rain storm outside of the building where Shohoku vs. Sannoh is happening. Helps add to the feel of Shohoku being in over their heads.
Also, I really think that it's a Ring ni Kakero reference, namely Golden Japan Jr. vs. Team Greece. Same vibe.
