Hate to think how fast they'd run on modern hardware if they were compiled with something like Freebasic* or QB64

*not 100% compatible, but shouldn't be too hard to port

You can still load and run gorilla bas on qb64 a modern qbasic that runs on windows Linux and Mac

I was playing it last night after a day of hyper focusing on BASIC cause of the release lol

(1) Which game, out of curiosity?

(2) Also, speaking of old dialects of Basic that Microsoft was involved with... I'd actually like to see the source to the Mindset-specific version of GW-Basic, because some of that stuff would be interesting to finally migrate to, say, QB64...

Just now reading about QB64, thats neat that its OpenGL compatable

I found some old BASIC code I wrote in the early 90's and that was interesting. Then more recently I slightly updated it to run on QB64 for fun.

QB64(PE) and Freebasic solve *most* of the problems, but all the features i like (AUDIO, fast + tiny executables, classes, windows gui features, gpu rendering, other general training wheels on type shennanigans) remain split between the two lineages as opposed to being a true successor.

An attempt to translate the Magnoquill Driftflare Quiverbloom to QB64 from a programming/scripting language I am not familiar with. It's not 100% successful but it looks interesting.
