Imagine if PROTEC17 came out and said that SDCI planners were only going to be processing the type of permits that the union considers important until they got a better contract.
The most illuminating part of this story is the head of the PEO union describing drivers parking in no-parking zones, which are frequently places where parking is restricted for pedestrian & bike mobility and safety, as a "benign" issue.
Parking Enforcement Officers On Work Slowdown After Contract Negotiations Stall

The PEOs have been working without a contract for two years. One issue: Their pay caps out at $37 an hour, compared to $52 for other city employees they say do similar work.

Wow. PROTEC17 is taking a real swing!
At a press conference at City Hall this morning, the Working Families Party and PROTEC17—the largest union of City of Seattle workers—endorsed Katie Wilson for mayor. The city union's endorsement is especially monumental because for most of these workers, incumbent Bruce Harrell is their boss.

Jamie Fackler, a city building inspector and union shop steward with PROTEC17, appears poised to jump into the race for Seattle City Council District 2, a race that is lacking a clear labor-aligned candidate so far.

Fackler registered his campaign with the PDC earlier this week.

Community testimony has begun. Protec17, the union representing the majority of PSR workers, testifies in support. So far all testimony has been in support of the resolution.

@NatalieDavis
This makes no mention of PROTEC17 and UFCW3000 which makes me disincluned to trust a word of it.
Without those two unions deciding to take a huge risk on Wilson, it's hard to for me to imagine her campaign having been successful.

🎉 It's time to get to work! 🎉 I’d like to introduce my Transition Director and Co-Chairs. I ran for mayor on the vision that we can tackle big challenges, address our affordability crisis, and make our city a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
