Afgelopen week vroeg iemand me of ik nog cd’s kocht. Uiteraard, want heel veel van de muziek die ik goed vind staat niet of op zijn best alleen zo nu en dan op Spotify. Voorbeeldje: het nieuwe album van Our Oceans, _Right Here, Right Now_.
De voorgaande twee staan wel op Spotify en deze zal er na verloop van tijd ook wel verschijnen, maar ik geef ze groot gelijk dat ze dat vooralsnog niet het geval is. Je steekt als artiest bakken met geld in opnamen (nog even afgezien van de tijd die je erin steekt) en vervolgens gaat de CEO van Spotify er met de opbrengst vandoor. Liefst koop ik een cd bij de artiest of het label zelf, zodat het grootste deel van de opbrengst dáár terechtkomt, in plaats van bij een stel profiteurs die door hun marktpositie
Wel zou het fijn zijn als er iets bedacht zou worden om internationale verzendkosten een klein beetje in de hand te houden. De nieuwe John 5-cd kost 15 euro, de verzendkosten zijn 34 euro. Eerder heb ik daardoor de nieuwe cd van Jason Bieler en de laatste van Goodbye June aan me voorbij moeten laten gaan…

Het heeft even geduurd, maar het nieuwe album van Our Oceans is eindelijk onderweg. Het derde album van zanger/gitarist Tymon Kruidenier, bassist Robin Zielhorst (beiden ex-Cynic) en drummer Yuma van Eekelen heet _Right Here, Right Now_ en verschijnt op 24 oktober. Dit is de eerste vrijgegeven track.

So hubby and I finished up #OurOceans on Netflix. Yes I know it's a few years old but omg it was fantastic. On the last episode I looked at my hubby at one point and said "I gotta go save the penguins." I had never been more serious in my life. Great job at narrating Barack!!!
