I'm following other narrowboaters as well, and the situation seems to be worsening, indeed. Construction, low water levels, low maintenance in parts of the canal system (fostered among others by government money restrictions). You should be fine unless a dyke breach occurs. (Bridgewater.)

Since I actually have a (fake) lift bridge, and a pair of narrow boats, this is interesting to me. Nice paint job on the boat as well. Now I'm imagining the imaginary narrowboaters jumping out to work the lift bridge and back. I will need to make sure there's a path for them.
