It's common for First Americans to express gratitude at gatherings. Gratitude shows our respect and affection for others. It also represents humility and a willingness to listen with an open mind.
First Americans express gratitude through kind words, gifts, and acts of generosity. Tribes would mutually engage in these exchanges, to keep the relationship reciprocal.
This kind of reciprocity was not practiced in Europe. When colonists came into contact with First Americans, their misunderstanding about the role of gifts led to strife and conflict.

gov stitt is a liar. Muscogee (Creek) Nation Wildlife code reads almost word for word like the state statutes. There are only 2 notable differences, neither of which involve deer. But I suppose showing someone spotlighting an opossum wouldn't be as an effective lie.
