They need only look at the MPA protecting lobster stocks in Bonnavista or the successful renewal in fisheries after the establishment of MPAs in Hawaii to know it works.

This also would have positioned #Newfoundland to help #ParksCanada improve the #NMCA policy. Sad.

I’d say following the lead if Palau and French Polynesia would make a huge difference: Shark Sanctuary and entire EEZs transformed into MPAs with only artisanal/local fishers allowed in certain areas. Add Pauly + Sumalia’s research and turn the entire high seas into an MPA. Long live sharks. 🦈

RRFSv1 does run hourly, but only the six-hourly cycles run to 84 h. That’s the target for future versions.

Timeline for an MPAS implementation is TBD - as soon as possible, but what that means and in what form that comes is still being decided.

Do you know the timeline for implementing RRFSv2 (the version with MPAS)? Also, one of the biggest positives of the HRRR was its hourly availability. Any plans to run RRFS hourly?
