Had a quick go at kurinuki pottery and it did not go well. Ended up carving through the wall of the pot, and handling the pot while I was carving it smoothed off all the sharp edges and rough textures. Might need a proper tutorial before trying it again.

Its getting pretty cold and dark out, so with the little time I had I wanted to try the kurinuki 「くり抜き？」technique!

I did not have a good tool for shaving the sides, so I just used a knife-like tool that I had.
It was fun!

Threw the base shapes for whisky tumblers and coated the insides with white slip. Once they've dried a bit, I'll carve the outsides with a wire harp, kurinuki-esque. These I'll glaze inside with a celadon glaze as a contrast to the raw exteriors
