A suspect in the largest jewelry heist in U.S. history was deported to Ecuador, halting his prosecution in the $100-million Brinks truck theft at a Grapevine truck stop. Federal prosecutors say they were unaware of the deportation and still want to prosecute, while the defendant’s attorney asked that the case be dismissed The deportation raises questions about federal agency coordination. Most of the stolen merchandise is still unrecovered, and jewelers question whether deporting the suspect could have been prevented. So what happens? The guy, now in El Salvador, sends a message to his co-henchman in the US to fence some of the jewelery and send him some bitcoin so the can bribe enough El Salvadoran officials to buy ALL of them a "We will leave them alone" life in El Salvador. His henchmen wire the bitcoin. He negotiates the bribe. The henchmen high tale it to El Salvador with the rest of the booty and they live out their lives like kings. It's a pirate's dream come true.
