#greenhushing
#Greenhushing won't work. 2026 candidates can win by showing how #climate change is driving #inflation in #energy, #insurance, #food etc, says @claravondrich.bsky.social of @publiccitizen.bsky.social. Show "how the impact and costs accelerate from here."

Fossil-fueled extreme weather is jacking up prices for everyone and everything. We need to start saying so.

This is a stunning story. I've been tracking the "greenhushing" narrative for a while now: this is the idea that strict regulations on fake climate claims spooks companies into total silence; therefore we shouldn't regulate them.

Greenhushing—minimizing climate pledges—began in '22 as companies struggled to communicate climate goals amid pushback from rightwing groups. But, it's reversing. Only 13% have decreased sustainability efforts or public communication on green issues while 32% raised them.

New term I’ve read: ‘greenhushing’.

It means that on the surface support for #ESG seems to diminish, but out of sight companies and banks continue to control ESG risks because it’s in their best interests.

Let’s keep pointing out the advantages of #sustainability and #DEI
