A view across some of the hillsides leading up to Mt Washington. Unseasonably without snow at this time of year. The vast valley of the Great Basin may be seen extending out beyond. The high point of the trail, at 9673 ft (shown on watch in left corner). Pyramid peak may be seen in the distance. Shocking how little snow there was on December 30th at this elevation. Descending back into the forest, with a view towards Pyramid Peak. I believe the smaller pines seen near the center are bristlecones; this species is the oldest known living organism on Earth, reaching 5,000 years old. A Turkey eyes me warily as I pass by. A second Turkey is mostly hidden behind it from among the group of maybe 7.

Some mushrooms grow at the base of a stump along the river Some oyster mushrooms growing out of the bark of a tree on top of a rock there viewed from below says to see the gills of the mushroom. there are three layers of mushrooms It's a view of the cap of the mushrooms compared to my left hand they're about the same size The harvested mushrooms are in a large mixing bowl on top of a kitchen scale and weigh 2,925 g the bowl is overflowing.
