The Haunted Bridge. A mystery to solve ... I have this postcard called "The Haunted Bridge" but cannot identify it. It's described as a British beauty spot. The card was posted from Nottingham, early 20thc.

#phantomsfriday tomorrow and it would be great if a few more followers of a #FolkloreThursday disposition would care to join in with some ghostlore. In addition, ghostly art, literature, poetry, info on haunted sites (and more) are always welcome. Perhaps take a peek at @phantomsfriday.bsky.social.

My 1915 edition of The Grey Ghost Book by Jessie Adelaide Middleton. It's mainly a rerun of familiar ghostlore but with a few original accounts, too. I've never seen a copy of Another Grey Ghost book (1914) or The White Ghost Book (1916) because they are that much harder to find.

Day 18: Vanesa R. Del Rey

There are seven of her covers in my collection that I know of, and her style lends itself to horror stories so well.

Interesting first #PhantomsFriday with the new @phantomsfriday.bsky.social in place. Here's one that just slipped under the radar. Paul is a keen enthusiast of ghostlore and carries out original research which confirms old stories and discovers new experiences. His account is well worth a follow.

My 1941 first edition of 'Haunted England', the seminal work on English ghostlore by Christina Hole. I've recently used a number of its extraordinary, almost abstract, illustrations by John Farleigh for #PhantomsFriday and no doubt will continue to do so.

And as we get into Spooky Season, I am very much on the lookout for local pubs with good ghostlore. There aren't as many as you would think!

Both little-known and well-traveled stories are most welcome.

It was one of those challenging calls, one you're not sure how to handle since the subject has another plan.

No interest in being "helped" and only motivated by something not so easy to understand here on earth. I tried.

Reading Dilman Dila (Ugandan horror writer)... Found this reference to a "monwor" ghost that can stretch her arm to turn off a lamp in another room. Very familiar motif from Indian & Thai ghostlore, this is the first time I'm hearing it from Africa!

My alt cover for GHOSTLORE #5 got announced today, and I'm excited to finally be able to share it! I had a lot of fun trying new things with this cover, as well as the interiors I got to draw.

As a horror writer and fan of the spooky stuff, @corinnepwriter.bsky.social has read and written her fair share of hauntings. Here, she walks us through some different spirit types that get overshadowed by their more famous named ghostly peers.
