#geicomi
These works are exceedingly important as they were illustrated by fudanshi or even just queer men. Otokogumi Lover's Association falls into a subset of geicomi that appeared at Comiket that was later deemed as urobon (underground book). Both covers are printed very dark for a reason.

do you ever had weird dream about seeing comics/games/whatever that doesn't exist?

Had a bizarre dream I was reading a geicomi webtoon about the MC inexplicably falling in love with his colleague (both are policemen apparently). Involving some love magic and is a romcom. One scene stood out

Especially in Japanese geicomi eversince Bara gay games characters are becoming so overdesigned... first hōsamo characters were really good but now it's a festival of random piled up character traits

I acquired this for my archive through the fudanshi I wrote about some months ago. Much to his remembrance, many of these books by Yamaai, which were pamphlet style, were once sold alongside geicomi and Western gay novels at this particular shop, which was called Tonglimeng or Dream Factory.

For clarification i know they both are canonically fit obviously but like. Realistically so. I am coming from the wotaku fandom life. I am talking geicomi / doujin levels of muscle LOL ah that’s what OCs and ff14 au ra are for

I don't know where Sanda is taking me, but I'm 100% on board for geicomi Santa Claus, the anime.

lrt god i wish they had tagame's geicomi at the de young lmao. i'm sure it's just his work like my brother's husband

honestly idk yuri/GL/shoujo-ai history at all so i cant say. BL doesnt apply to geicomi probably bc fans dont know it exists, and also its a genre as problematic as yaoi but it gets a pass cuz its guys being dudes lol
September 25, 2025 at 11:38 PM
right like im aware of this split but ive never heard of anyone implying that bl referred to geicomi as opposed to yaoi before? or like i have no idea what someone might be thinking of when theyre juxtaposing yuri and gl like that?
September 25, 2025 at 11:32 PM
regardless, over time shounen-ai developed as a non/less sexual version BL genre and there are quite a lot of yaoi mangaka who do both explicit and romantic fluff stuff. geicomi would then develop other genres like bara, which is almost by definition gay men writing about buff gay men
September 25, 2025 at 11:30 PM
alright so basically from its inception, theres been a divide between genres. yaoi and geicomi (gay comics) was the classic original divide between woman and gay men mangaka. there was actually a LOT of back and forth between yaoi and geicomi magazines in the 70s abt yaoi discourse

yeah i mean that’s just *the* geicomi body

It’s fairly rare, yeah. They’re also typically not to the level of hairy you find in geicomi (tbh, perfectly smooth is such a standard that even a bit of pubic hair can feel like a little treat)
September 11, 2025 at 3:50 AM
It probably comes up more in the geicomi genre, tbh.

Yaoi ronso guy might be a bit more up on geicomi than the bara bunch, but anyone citing a 30 year old argument as proof of anything about modern bl and its audience can't be engaging with bl in any meaningful way, and I'd bet the issue is still that bl is for women
September 7, 2025 at 2:29 PM
I feel like there's a sort of quest for (perceived) authenticity going on with a lot of people that leads them to only a surface understanding of both bl and geicomi as genres and no understanding of the artists and audiences. They've just heard that one is for gay men and therefore it's best
September 7, 2025 at 2:29 PM
The amount of bl/geicomi misinformation that ends up in the comments on light-hearted posts like that is always wild (tho that specific example is especially funny)
September 7, 2025 at 3:54 AM
i clicked on a hard r18 geicomi artist on twitter that draws nothing but that daid subject and also rts tons of gay thirst trap selfies

>followed by obari

well this guy seems to also like mecha too but im still in tears LMAOOOO holy shit

We also live in an era where certain political and gender sentiments become talking points against the presence of Bara, Geicomi, yaoi, etc. on social media, oftentimes policed by a very specific racial and gendered demographic. Conservativism and the policing of image is now very rampant.

Wow someone actually using the right term (geicomi), that’s a rarity
July 27, 2025 at 10:20 PM
(não sei se é bl, hentai, geicomi, mas vai pra lista de qualquer maneira)
July 26, 2025 at 6:36 PM
7. I wish I could get more BL with geicomi aesthetics. I, too, like big boys with facial hair. Gimme some sturdy guys!
