#digikam

Jeg bruker RawTherapee og DigiKam på Linux. Prøvd litt GIMP for redigering.

This photo-organizing app is so good it made me ditch Lightroom’s library
A smarter library tool finally cured my Lightroom chaos.

Well now I've done a bit of research and have learned of Rawtherapee, ART (Another Raw Therapee, a fork), Darktable, and Digikam (library management). I might finally get rid of this goddamn subscription after all.

For now, I'm back to using X7 (until it breaks for good). I briefly looked at using DigiKam to import photos. I can't recall the specifics, but I didn't see an obvious way to import using my regular naming convention.

I name all images like this: 2025-11-27_Thanksgiving_001.jpg

Digikam suggestion ;)

I have recently started using digiKam for management/tagging/organising and Darktable for raw editing. It takes a bit of getting used to coming from Adobe but they're both pretty powerful.

I wonder where I found that massive paper tome "The Book of GIMP"? I'm pretty sure I know where I got the digital copy. I know where I got the digital copy of "Digikam Recipes". I seem to have petty good luck searching for information on the Internet. Maybe I just don't use that many programs?

Excellent piece of software. Now i wish i'd switched sooner!

I dumped Windows for Linux back in September. So far I have managed to replace Lightroom with Digikam, Affinity Photo with Darktable and Gimp. I miss Affinity ( Now Canva) but might try and get it running within Crossover. For film scanning, I use VueScan Pro.

A bit late A3: #photochat As a Linux user, I use mostly Gimp, Digikam and RawTherapee for photo editing, Vuescan for scanner handling.

So no Adobe headaches here...

I use XnView like Adobe Bridge. It is open source application that has been great. Some things are clunky, but it works well.

Digikam is the other app I use mainly for watermarking and renaming files. It looks at metadata and can create filenames based off of that data with lots of customization.
