also at 14 i was trying to do it in cygwin (wsl did not exist yet) and had no idea what was going on or why it was failing, now it's easy, character growth!

All configurble. I used windows for 25 years or so, then was given a Mac - and I'll never look back. I do software development and I don't find it limiting at all. I'm also familiar with Unix/Linux and love the terminal - something you don't get on windows without Cygwin.

Today has involved learning how Cygwin implements Unix sockets and good fucking god do I need many drinks now but hey at least I have an SSH agent that works with git for Windows

Softwareservices umstellen wird als auf das Betriebssystem.
Seit "SIngularity" hatte ich das Gefühl, dass das OS so weit geöffnet wird, dass es kompatibel mit Windows und Linux wird - und wenn man an Cygwin und den ganzen Krampf denkt ist es doch schon erstaunlich wie weit WSL ist..

I assume it would work in Cygwin on MinGW bash or whatever. Maybe even git bash? Definitely works in WSL.
And as long as you have the bootstrap interpeter for mdsh itself, you could use another language as the embedded language (eg PowerShell)

just realized that i never installed openssh with cygwin. since i'm getting tired of putty it's time to fix that.
