#algorithims
Very suddenly I am getting much less reactions/reposts/comments than I used to get. What happened here? Did someone at Bluesky tinker around with the algorithims? Did someone place me on another defamatory list? What goes here??

This site expects us to curate our own user experience, it's only reasonable we do exactly that.

Algorithims are a plague on society, hence all the rancid-ass takes showing up when we don't want them to on other sites.

Also I block minors who decide to follow me, despite what my bio says.

Because of algorithims, I'd argue the greater the number of sources, the fewer most people end up relying on.
whenever I point out that propaganda works really well and is really effective, there's inevitably people who say "but there's more sources of news than ever online," as if it's easy peasy for barely educated Americans to dissect which source of info is being truthful in an ocean of bullshit
A large majority of U.S. adults now get news digitally, but nondigital news consumers are less likely to say they extremely often or often encounter inaccurate news.

Yes&no. I believe that there will be programs developing to quickly detect AI, just like algorithims detect stuff. It's just that at the beginning of new technology & inventions we have to play catch-up.
There's hope. And it also sharpens our senses. We just have the responsibility to teach next gen

“Our deployment layer mimics natural user interaction on physical devices to get our content to appear human to the algorithims [sic],” the company’s site says.

Social media is a disease on our society. And, we all got infected.
A new startup, called Doublespeed, is being backed by one of biggest venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

The new venture "is pitching an astroturfing AI-powered bot service, which is in clear violation of policies for all major social media platforms."

NEW: an a16z-backed startup called Doublespeed promises clients can “orchestrate actions on thousands of social accounts through both bulk content creation and deployment.”

we know some companies are using these things to reduce headcount - replace people with robots/algorithims...

what is the general public getting?

higher water and power bills? search engines responses that are not as good as they used to be?

Think of them as AI factories, churning out your responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and all the other generative AI tools. The costs are staggering.
