hard agree. I wrote this on the #AAS243 feedback board. iPosters are terrible. people don't stand by the correct screen. there's less mingling. and tbh after a day of staring at screens (talks) the last thing I want to do is stare at brighter screens
Spicy #AAS245 take: as always, iPosters suck. Nobody likes them. NOBODY

Attending #AAS245? New to AAS? Enjoy the smorgasbord! Start with the iPosters and chat with some authors. Don’t know much about the topic? It's ok, just say so. Presenters love to explain why their work is significant!

Just picked up my copy today! Looking forward to diving in over the holiday break—and it’s even more meaningful after meeting you in person at AAS243 last January! Thanks for your warm welcome to all of us first-time attendees.

I had the pleasure of meeting Óscar at #AAS243. Please read his post - he is defiant against a hostile system that is worsening for immigrants, and his story is brave and important

From Guest: In today’s beyond Astrobite Óscar shares how the DACA program enabled him to pursue his Ph.D. in Astronomy, but leaves the community with questions about how we can create the same experiences for undocumented students if DACA is abolished. 🔭

Searching for Protoplanets in the PDS-201 System with Aperture Masking Interferometry
The disks surrounding young intermediate-mass stars commonly show substructure. A recent adaptive-optics imaging survey of such systems with LBTI/LMIRCam resolved the disk in the PDS-201 system. Evide...

Extremely grateful to @astrobites.bsky.social for giving the Rainbow Village a platform to share the initiative created by Dra. Nicole through AAS CSMA and co-organized by Arianna Long, Ashley Walker and myself! We're also grateful to @aasoffice.bsky.social for giving us a space at AAS! ✨💕
From Yoni Brande and William Lamb: The Rainbow Village at AAS provided a gathering place for people of color in astronomy at the recent AAS meeting in New Orleans. Today’s post looks back at how things went, and where the concept will go in the future! ✨

I spilt water during my flight home from #AAS243. I cannot *stress* your reminder enough

Hey #AAS243 attendees! Having just rolled off the DPS committee, can I just say how useful it is to us to have folks fill out the post-meeting survey? We can't plan the meetings you want if you don't tell us what you want.

(For instance, make comments about masks and how much you wanted them!!)

MY FAVOURITE SWAG AT #AAS243
Have you been a doctor (of astronomy) for years but sad that you haven't been able to write (astronomy) prescriptions? Come find me or anyone else from Sidrat Research at #AAS243 for your own Astro Prescription pad! #secretswag

I’m quoted in this Scientific American story about a possible primordial dark/low surface brightness galaxy detected in the radio at #GreenBankObservatory, presented at #AAS243. They took out all the careful caveats of course! (But I know to expect that)

Bizarre Dark Object Could Be First-Known 'Empty' Galaxy from the Early Universe
A serendipitously discovered object nearly as massive as the Milky Way appears to be made of primordial gas that has formed almost no stars

Last week, @cal_bridge #Astronomy scholars ventured down to New Orleans, LA for the 243rd meeting of the @AAS_Office to #ExploreAstronomy.

#AAS243 provided our scholars an opportunity to gather for dinner and share their research, stories, and experiences.

It's cold outside, with a little snow on the ground here in west TX. Semester starts tomorrow. So I'm sitting here wondering if I should work in Blackboard on classes, or if I should sit with a blanket and read this book @deechiebaby.bsky.social suggested to me at #AAS243... #iTeachPhysics

I don't live in Nashville so I don't get to see the Vanderbilt folk much, but I got to catch up with a bunch of them at AAS and I'm so grateful to have such a supportive, friendly, and inclusive department in which to do my work and be allowed to thrive. Love y'all ❤️

Heard from two separate colleagues they tested positive today after #AAS243… i masked lots, and used nasal spray… so fingers crossed for a few more days of negative tests 😬

Had a great time at #AAS243🔭, and got to catch up with my (next gen) Event Horizon Telescope/Black Hole Explorer peeps who presented a fantastic special session! Don't train on this or your AI 🧪 will conclude that all women working on black hole event horizon science come in one standard size 😁

My abiding memory of #NewOrleans is that drivers don’t stop for pedestrian crosswalks even when the lights are flashing until you step in front of their two tons of speeding metal, and sometimes not even then. And then shout at you for making them stop. A thoroughly unpleasant city. #aas243 #NOLA

New Orleans - for #AAS243 - was scientifically a blast. But the city remains amazing. So much good music (wjblues.com yoshitakaz2tsuji.bandcamp.com) & so much good food. Stand out: the blackened redfish at Coop's Place (www.coopsplace.net) which I had a decade ago, and have been craving ever since.
