Religious intolerance deepens in Pakistan as Ahmadi woman denied burial rights
In Pakistan, a heartbreaking case of religious intolerance has spotlighted the ongoing struggles of the Ahmadi community. A minority rights group called Voice of Pakistan Minority (VOPM) says hardline Islamists from the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) party, with support from local authorities, blocked the burial of Qudsia Tabassum, a woman from the Ahmadiyya community. Her body has sat in a mortuary for two days now.

I remember using a custom build of MAME that is able to log VGMs like a decade ago so I could create VOPM presets from the weird instruments in SF1's soundtrack. Didn't get far because vgm2pre doesn't support YM2151, though I could probably fork it and add support myself if I really wanted to.

I used ripped MDX files from the game Asuka 120% and converted those into .opm files for the VOPM plugin in Ableton Live! It rules but its totally on *u* to make sure u follow the rules of the console hahaha

* Triple VOPM makes use of very harsh- but deliberately designed- FM synth programming. its rough, metallic, and grating. I love it, and I think the actual composition, especially when it gets into it, is incredible- but its the Black Sheep of the album for a reason

particular highlights off of it besides Tulip include Liquid Soup (Shinji Hosoe), Ozone (Keiichi Okabe), Over the Rainbow (Motoaki Furukawa), Triple VOPM* (Yuu Miyake), and 4operators (Yuzo Koshiro), but honestly there's no duds. Solid 10/10 album. Yet to be beat in the FM Synth comp space imho.

I've wanted to get back into trackers but it's been years. It does look like Furnace Tracker is easy to use but whenever I was working in FL, I stuck with VOPM personally.

As someone who started with the Genesis "soundfont", I was able to move onto VOPM and Genny years after because there were more resources as the 2010s went on. Though I think even those are too much for average Joe's who just want something simple, sadly.
oh yeah it's worse with the FM samples. even at the time, I thought those weren't great and often rolled my own samples.
i wonder how hard it would be to steer people towards genny and its preset selection of Sonic patches. that'd be some sort of improvement lol
