#UPnP
Finally got my pi5, kodi, omv upnp set up, and it all plays blurays, DVD and other files.

Also cool I can switch between audio streams, mainly MA and 5.1 - now to see if cheapo sound bar plays nice with these.

Also, series folder structure of episodes is finicky, getting indexed properly.

⚙️ Technical impact:
A buffer boundary flaw in third-party UPnP parsing code allows out-of-bounds memory access.

Exploitation may result in crashes, memory corruption, or undefined behavior in affected engines.

New research drops a nuke on IoT privacy. 93 common devices (TVs, assistants, cameras) are leaking MAC addresses and UUIDs over local Wi-Fi protocols like UPnP.

Yes sir. Although my router won’t apply UPnP to it and there’s no way for me to allocate that manually.

it has UPnP, just had to enable it. I'll have to see if it works now, I may still have to manually add ports to my gateway and/or ufw

Streams Telegram content to smart TVs via UPnP

Maybe I've just (correctly) avoided consumer-level products for too long. It's insane to me that an unsecured camera can upnp itself to the open internet by default

A UPnP music app should let you use the Pi as a renderer, then you can use whatever amp & speakers you like, especially if you've a good audio card in the Pi.

Man I feel dumb.

Was having issues with my Plex server. UPnP port mapping was failing, TV EPG wasn’t loading, etc. Was starting this think something had gone wrong with both the PC and the router, but nothing has changed.

And then it all started working again.

Any guesses why? Answer in reply.

I got so pissed with Comcast I was about to buy another switch and router until GLP helped, bespoke wrote, and deployed the UPnP solution for me as an Argo app

*excellent* report. *Thank you.* & Very good to hear.

Super love the UPnP port forward manager idea. I'm still playing with myself alas on getting set up again, a fool, but something like that is on my radar as a "will need soon".

I’ve used various models under claude code to completely spec my homelab, set up k8s with argocd, made a ddns manager to talk to the dreamhost api, made a upnp port forward manager to talk to my cable modem

I could do this stuff but it’s so much easier now

QtNat is a lightweight C++ library built with Qt 6 that simplifies NAT port mapping using UPnP (Universal Plug and Play). It is designed to help developers easily expose local services to external networks without requiring manual router configuration for users. By leveraging UPnP, QtNat communicates with compatible routers to automatically create port forwarding rules at runtime. This makes it especially useful for peer-to-peer applications, multiplayer games, remote access tools, and any software that requires reliable inbound connectivity behind NAT. QtNat provides a simplified API to automatically perform all steps: discovery and mapping.
