I was right under the southerly approach to BWI yesterday and among all the B73s and CJs, I heard a REAL plane and caught a great belly view of a big chonkin’ 767

Yes, just like land transport, the smaller aircraft will electrify first. I also suspect that as planes with 20 or so passengers become practible, the lower costs will see a massive fragmentation of the shorthaul market, much the same as twinjets did for long haul.
