#TreeDiversity
Are you concerned about the aggressive spread of red imported fire ants? These invasive pests are causing damage to crops, livestock, and local wildlife. But did you know that tree diversity can provide a natural solution? #TreeDiversity
How Tree Diversity Controls Red Imported Fire Ants
Red imported fire ants pose a significant threat to agriculture and wildlife. They invade and damage farms and crops and harm wildlife. These ants have spread rapidly in many areas, and they are very difficult to control. Yet, there is a natural solution, and that is tree diversity. Instead, we would plant different tree species, so the landscape itself is difficult for these ants.

🌳 Fascinating work in @globalchangebio! 🌿 Trees have so many ways of thriving, and diverse strategies across species prove to boost ecosystem productivity.
Thanks to ‪@mixedforests.bsky.social‬ for pushing #TreeDiversity research forward!

In parallel with doing #treediversity research, I am also putting it in practice while on "FAO shutdown". 3 new chestnut saplings planted in area a bit over their attributed altitudinal limit. Anticipating #climatechange!

On my first day of official break...or "FAO shutdown" as I called it yesterday. A bit of time now to dedicate to #treediversity and #ForestEcosystems, but still engaged with #Liberia's #NationalForestInventory!
