#Seaweedfs
Huh, I can't find my own most recent post about self hosted S3 anymore, but someone suggested RustFS and I mentioned that their interest in AI made me nervous because that's exactly what makes me nervous about SeaweedFS, and yeah... it's be AI does stuff like this […]

@[email protected] i found very little documentation about seaweedfs, if you do get around to it I'd love to hear how it works for you

@privateger this one was looking at seaweedfs (since she mostly wants something that could automatically move unused objects to a different server for cost reasons)

Looks like latest #seaweedfs container (4.05) is broken. Filler restarting continuously.

Downgraded to 4.04 as latest working version.

@ jwildeboer @ homelab I used restic and kopia - and SeaweedFS for S3. It was solid. Then I replaced this setup with FreeBSD jails so I'm using ZFS send and receive, but it was stable and reliable.

And now moving onto looking at SeaweedFS instead of Ceph to compare. Both come with S3 compatibility, but SeaweedFS seems simpler to operate and reason about so far. However, there's some planning to do in order to support multiple buckets. I also know Go better then C++.

@sherbang I'd be more willing to accept that if there weren't already a few examples of UIs for garage published completely open source. I still might go with them, because seaweedfs has been a bit messy and minio is actively closing source everything they're able to, but I'm just sad that the […]

If you're not using seaweedfs or minio, what do you use for self-hosted S3?

Low chance on this one, but has anyone encountered the following issue with seaweedfs?

https://github.com/seaweedfs/seaweedfs/issues/7841

Did you find a way to ever download your files again?

Hoi seaweedfs friends! Recently went to do a restore of my database for zitadel, and noticed that barman couldn't download the S3 object. I tried with the minio cli as well and I just get: $ mc cp ...

@stfn SeaweedFS is quite different.

I ... am not a fan of it because of how they present themselves and their comparison with other stacks. That's mostly a vibe thing, and it just doesn't work for me.

They also try to do *everything*, which is ... fairly ambitious given the team size. And hold […]
