I announced it at SISMID so now to make it official. In August the Fox lab will be moving to NAU in Flagstaff AZ. I am so sad to leave all my wonderful UGA colleagues, but am excited to settle permanently in the Southwest near these mountains and the desert.

Enjoyed wildflower season in the mountains this weekend and now I’m on my way to teach Simulation-based inference of epidemiological dynamics at SISMID! See y’all in Atlanta soon!

I got Claude code to submit its own forecast for this. It managed a full submission of a var(2) model including the pr and submitted an “ensemble” (actually a manual scaling of the var). The tried to ask for a arima ensemble and it just went wild.

It’s code journey here: github.com/nfidd/sismid...

Really enjoying Nicks new forecasting in the real world hub session and looking back at some hub data in different ways:

A really great convolution video shared today by Mariah Boudreau after our intro to convolution session at SISMID. Worth a watch!

I've been sneaking on that course (by Sam Abbott, Thomas Robacker, Nick Reich) for the past few days on github (did not see the deployed version) and it is really good learning material for learning epi forecasting: nfidd.github.io/sismid/

If you can't make it but are as excited as I am about joining the domain knowledge vs data driven stats wars check out our open source course material here....

If you're interested in learning (or learning more about) disease modeling, I highly recommend SISMID: sph.emory.edu/SISMID/index...

I actually attended the very first, as a treat to myself after my prelims. Now they've added online modules, too!

Like the sound of this in the US and scared of Europe (or you know other reasons) I am also teaching a similar nowcasting/forecasting course this year at SISMID with Nick Reich (so expect some cool hubverse stuff and much more on ensembles)

Today was an on-brand 2021 day and included: @casey_zipfel's dissertation deadline, analysis for a major news outlet, research meetings, grant admin, #SISMID planning, a phishing attack, a memorial service, wedding planning, a tornado nearby, and a dead tree removed in our yard.

Honored to join the revered #SISMID team this year led by @betzhallo to teach my favorite topic of contact network epidemiology with @joel_c_miller and @TJHladish. It was great to get so many students as excited about #netepi as we are.
