Any archaeologists/historians want to weigh in on whether this linear feature is, indeed, the northern end of the Roman ford?

The last remaining section of the old, Roman city walls that once protected #Divit. The 19th century addition can be seen in the top section where previously Roman sentries would have patrolled. #romanscotland #roman #history #inverkeithing #fife

The right-hand panel shows a 'suovetaurilia', the sacrifice of a boar, a ram and a bull to ritually cleanse land or an army. It may echo a real ceremony which took place to purify the site of the Wall or the legionaries constructing it. (3/3)

RIB3515. It was found 1958 in the bed of the Almond below the Roman Fort of Bertha, north of Perth. It is now in #Perth and this was it on display there in 2019. It is a dedication to the Discip(u)lina Augusti most likely from Antonine #Bertha fort.

The southern ramparts of Rough Castle Roman Fort on the Antonine Wall, near Falkirk. Built in around 142 AD, the fort is the second smallest on the wall, but the best preserved. 📸 My own. #RomanFortThursday #RomanScotland #AntonineWall

Over 30 Roman intaglios have been found at #Trimontium Fort in the #ScottishBorders—tiny engraved gems worn in rings, rich with myth & meaning.
Many were found by fieldwalkers like Walter Elliot, a founder of the Trust. Each one offers a glimpse into #Roman life.

Ardoch Fort near Braco has some of the best-preserved #Roman earthworks in Britain. Built around AD 80, likely for auxiliary troops (possibly cavalry), it was reused in the Antonine period. Aerial views show its impressive layout!

@romanscotland.bsky.social @RomanScotland Apologies if this is a daft question, but I saw this today at Harburn estate (not far from Castle Greg fortlet) and wondered if it (head) was possibly re-purposed from somewhere, rather than Victorian "tat"? Thank you.

The five ditches outside the east gate of #Ardoch #Roman Fort north of Stirling, result of successive reductions in size of previous forts: 1st Flavian (AD80s) then up to 3 Antonine forts (AD140/50s). The southern “anchor” of the Gask Ridge Frontier, is it the best site (5-stars) in #RomanScotland?
