I blame Republicans who are complicit in the radicalization of their party.

I cannot overstate how important these two books alone are to me. How important they were to have read in my early-mid 20s.

The Iraq War began my radicalization, "Small Gods" and "Feet of Clay" cemented important parts of it and more.
Small Gods and Feet of Clay have The Real Juice tho

Regardless of motive, history indicates it likely moves the political climate in a direction of further radicalization.

Music has had a profound effect on who I am politically. Artists like Boots Riley of The Coup and Street Sweepers Social Club, Nine Inch Nails album and ARG Year Zero, classic punk like Dead Kennedy and even some industrial music like KMFDM had profound impacts on my political radicalization.

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.

4) this is a sci-fi book about a girl raised in a fascist death cult (in space) who gets de-radicalized, and it set the standard for me for not just sci-fi lit, but also de-radicalization narratives. it WILL piss you off, because it doesn’t shy away from what the protag’s being de-radicalized FROM

It’s a ‘choose your own antifa adventure’ — everyone finds their own pathways to radicalization when everything is happening at once — add in the niche communal & professional groups who focus on singular issues (i.e. court reform/foreign pol/AUMF legalities etc) & bingo bongo communal resistance.

Until we realize that we are not immune to propaganda or radicalization, we will continue to have growing hate groups. Self righteousness is a straight path to becoming hateful.

India’s ban on 25 books in #Kashmir — including works by #ArundhatiRoy & #AGNoorani — marks a major censorship surge post-Article 370.

Authorities cite “radicalization,” but critics call it an assault on Kashmiri identity & intellectual freedom.

An overlooked factor in the radicalization of Evelyn Normielib against Democratic Party leadership is the humiliation of watching fascists gloat.

Transphobia and radicalization didn't happen through phones or TikTok, it happened through The Guardian headlines, through BBC press releases, through the Equality and Human Rights Commission and most of all, through the Labour Party

If that makes you uncomfortable, it is not our job to comfort you

it's always about banning phones to prevent "radicalization" (queer kids finding out they're not broken & there's a future for them) but the alt-right pipeline, normalization of bigotry, & dogwhistles are completely ignored.

This investigation is important on so many levels proving that algorithmic bias & digital radicalization on X is real. I don't know if the best response is leaving the platform & supporting alternatives like bluesky, but it is a classic tale of influence through money & an invisible algorithm.
Vital piece of investigative reporting from Sky. They've uncovered the X algorithm which feeds users extremist right wing material from the moment they join the site. It is a far-right radicalisation engine, by design.

My Political Timeline:

2012: Liberal
2014: Progressive
2016: Democratic Socialist
2018-2021: Anarchist
2022-Now: Marxist Socialist

my "radicalization" came not when Trump happened, but when I saw Democrats were ok with sacrificing humanity for money in wallets

There are lots of examples throughout the chapter of everyday AI such as wayfinding, dating apps, finance, and distribution. For AI in social media, Williams focuses on curation by proprietary sorting algorithms and their link to radicalization and psychological manipulation.

lowkey the bluesky truth is the same as x dot com

a site that clearly is accelerating radicalization on the right

and pushing its users toward the right, per study after study

it only makes sense we went from a news divide to a social media divide
