#Radicalization
I do think this is a point of radicalization because a lot of angry, angry normal people were ready to dig in and suffer a lot in order to make fascists suffer a little, and their resolution was sold out and made into a mockery

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.

This is what kills me. If Esther Ghey wants to talk about the dangers of kids being online too much, she can talk about radicalization, about bigotry, about the dehumanizing ideas of trans people Brianna's killers were exposed to.

She doesn't, she talks exclusively about Brianna's social media use.
putting her phone in a pouch would have made her killers less transphobic and violent?

me yelling at liberals approaching the dsa table to skip that step of radicalization and just become an anarchist now

Phone pouches do absolutely nothing to help harassment, abuse or radicalization. What do you think these radicalized kids are going to do as soon as they receive their phones back? Abuse doesn't stop outside of schools and you've just made it more difficult for victims to call for help. Congrats. 🙃

A lot of us have asked why she seems so unable to speak directly about the transphobic radicalization of her daughter's killers, and I think the revelation that she's friends with of the killers' mums goes a long way in explaining that.
She has a rationale for it as part of her book promo.

Bonus: she's friends with the mom of one the killers.

i agree british kids should be banned from reading the newspapers or watching BBCNews. It's the only way to prevent the kind of radicalization that the entire ruling class - Charlotte Nichols MP included - has experienced
And how do those children typically access the media they've been radicalised by? 🤔

Measures like this are not intended *instead of* measures to keep trans kids and adults safer, but they're not at odds with those objectives either.

Mass radicalization imminent.

He had to do CHORES and only had ONE HOUSEKEEPER!

Radicalization pathway.
That’s amazing that he suffered through grilled cheese from the hired help -by choice- as a child and also summer chores. It’s a wonder he even survived it to become a proletariat thought leader of the right

it's always about banning phones to prevent "radicalization" (queer kids finding out they're not broken & there's a future for them) but the alt-right pipeline, normalization of bigotry, & dogwhistles are completely ignored.
November 12, 2025 at 9:22 AM
It's bizarre that the focus of this campaign and the reporting on it is on Brianna's social media usage and mental health and not on the radicalization and violent transphobia that lead to two teenagers stabbing her. It's bizarre that her mother isn't more concerned about violent transphobia.

man, people act like admitting that right wing radicalization is real will destroy some precious moral framework. “so and so was ALWAYS this way…” that’s a lie, that isn’t true.

like idk how people expect to actually fight against and dismantle the status quo if they can’t admit propaganda works
November 10, 2025 at 12:03 PM
Its so weird because she's specifically done a transphobia style rabbit hole brain boiling which is typically quite different from pro-israel radicalization

we are repeating the AIDS generation’s radicalization but sincerely without the grievances the AIDS generation has (people will scream about this, but they haven’t killed millions of us and they’re not going to, and millions of people did in fact actually die in AIDS)

two things:

(1) far-right politics can be stapled towards a civic nationalism, and i think you see that with nikki haley's son here

(2) the radicalization of the right is unlikely to stop even with dem victories in the 2026 midterms: the new staffer class (as Heritage realized) is radical
oh cool, now we have Indian-American zoomer idiots that think that they can draw the line to include them to exclude them from MAGA's anti-Indian sentiment
November 9, 2025 at 12:09 AM
Let me see if I understand this correctly. Charlotte wants to limit cellphone access in spaces that may require it for emergency reasons. And somehow this is going to stop radicalization because such "protection" magically spills over to after school hours?

What is PREVENT for if not to intervene in these cycles of in-group radicalization
November 9, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Bc it is using as an example someone that most people know of that seemed "normal."
Resultantly, if someone "normal" can get wrapped up into a radicalization pipeline, it's a message to all of us to stay well-informed & pass that knowledge onto others.

Lost boys: a personal journey through the manosphere, with James Bloodworth | Holyoake Lecture 2025
In an era of profound social and political shifts, old certainties about masculinity have been swept away, leaving a vacuum that, for some, has been filled by a sprawling and sinister collection of…

I don't think anything I'm writing is insightful. It's wrong to enslave and kill people for land. It's wrong to claim you can only have pure spaces for certain kinds of people.

These are easy things for regular folk to understand. It takes a lot radicalization to get people to think otherwise.

What's funny is that they're probably responsible for a lot of that radicalization - if you've given a nickel to a Dem in the last 10 years you've been inundated with fundraising emails about how Donald Trump is tearing down democracy and it's very hard to square that circle.
November 10, 2025 at 4:10 PM
As funny as this is alienating yourself from your social circles is a big part of how radicalization reinforces itself and it’s really bad so many people are still on twitter and choosing to placate the freaks on there over being normal

Transphobia and radicalization didn't happen through phones or TikTok, it happened through The Guardian headlines, through BBC press releases, through the Equality and Human Rights Commission and most of all, through the Labour Party

If that makes you uncomfortable, it is not our job to comfort you

It's the most advanced radicalization machine ever created, and we've already discovered what happens in America when the government just lets that happen.
Vital piece of investigative reporting from Sky. They've uncovered the X algorithm which feeds users extremist right wing material from the moment they join the site. It is a far-right radicalisation engine, by design.
