It’s not just how hard they work. Whenever I mark pupillage applications, I am amazed at how much focused work experience people do these days. I wouldn’t get a look in if I were applying today with my CV from then.

During my first week of pupillage, I shadowed someone at Westminster Magistrates' Court defending a chap wanted by Poland for allegedly shoplifting goods to the value of something like 10 Polish złoty (ie £2). I determined that extradition was a world of enigmas which I could not understand.

I mentioned this before and people commented that pupillage has material that law schools don't teach. Maybe so but it should be transferred. I think it is wrong that private training should ever be used as a gateway

Big changes underway in Texas as to how Lawyers get accredited. As much as I like the ABA, a private organization should never have a monopoly. I view pupillage in much the same way, a private organisation should never be the gateway to our courts

Almost certainly not as she was called to the bar in 1995 stopped practicing in 2005, which doesn't line up with the Secret Barrister's account of their pupillage.
