Another spot not far away was basically just a dirt road through a wooded area. Barred owl thought it was a good place to be. Also had lots of wildflowers around. And berries!
Barred owl perched on a branch in shady and *mostly* concealed spot in a tree next to a rural road. Indian paintbrush, pinklady evening primrose, some small, yellow flowers growing next to gravel road in north central Texas. Yellow wild indigo(?) flowers growing in a ditch. Southern dewberries I found alongside a country road.
