A marathon day spent in NFT1 yesterday for the Laura Mulvey Symposium at BFI Southbank, really great set of panels, and Laura being impressive as ever - in opening conversation with Oliver Fuke and later with closing remarks, then again introducing her film with Peter Wollen, The Bad Sister. 💯 Fairuza Balk AND Ione Skye 🤌 I love ALL her films, but seeing her do an on-stage for that one in NFT1 a few years ago was a lifetime high. And I love her podcast as well! (And her daughter Tiffany is the music supervisor on Reservation Dogs whose soundtrack is ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥).

Not attending that One Battle After Another talk session partially because I have no time, but mainly because Leo DiCaprio is a big ol’ Zio.

I’m just surprised the programmers have yet to consider the overlaps in the programme that evening

Nice one.

2025 BFI Missing Believed Wiped is on Saturday 13 December.

“The programme will feature other titles, to be confirmed closer to the event.”

Genuinely have no idea whether this will be Doctor Who missing episodes, but 🤞🏽.

Zygons tbf looked and sounded terrific on NFT1’s screen. I actually quite liked the new Skarasen bit, and dismaying though it is to hear about AI tinklings it’d be hard to spoil the joy of that production. The Ian Marter doc is superb, and moving. Harper is always interesting. Looks a fun set.

It was worth it for this moment.

Really? I don’t think I’ve been to any RFH screenings for LFF which didn’t include at least something. Even smaller stuff back home at NFT1. Must’ve been something logistical?

BBC Four are currently playing an interview with Angela Lansbury. NFT1 looking a bit different!

What am I up to, film 14? Anyway it was Lucrecia Martel's doc LANDMARKS (Nuestra tierra), about an indigenous Argentine community and issues of what it means to exist, or not, under colonialism.

Artistic ambition and political advocacy meld in Lucrecia Martel’s documentary, a bold and beautiful reflection on the death and legacy of indigenous activist Javier Chocobar.

"Hedda" (2025) was great fun, esp Nina Hoss' Eileen Lovborg who is about 500% more interesting than Eilert and gets some great material to get stuck into (from a few scenes offstage in the play)

Sorry but Tom Bateman is too handsome for Tesman! needs to be a big loser or at least loser adjacent

@lffstubs.bsky.social Selling a 🎟️ to THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB on Thu 16 October, 9pm in NFT1 at the BFI. Face value, obvs

Friends fear he’s… etc.

My tenth LFF film was HEDDA, with the director and stars out on stage and a whole lot more in the audience as far as I can tell (it was filmed in the UK). I enjoyed it, a fun adaptation, a good role for Tessa Thompson.

My first viewing was at the BFI (NFT1), and I emerged somewhat shell-shocked!
