#MAX232
Hey @rc2014, are the RTS/CTS lines on the FTDI port of the Classic ][ serial module expected to be connected and functional?

I'm currently using a cheap MAX232 breakout board connected to a real serial port, which leaves those lines unconnected.

Got Wozmon up and running! 🍎 - with an assist from the beneater subreddit, where they found an issue with the schematic on the Max232 chip! Exciting. Going to experiment here for a bit then onto Basic!

Turns out the clock can come from either an external input ‽, or from one of the 65C51 UARTs, used as a baud generator.

News to me, but modems sometimes provide external clocks. I guess that makes sense if the line has lots of jitter?

This thing has 4 UARTs, a pair of R65C51P2s and the dual UART D7201AC. Why so many UARTs???

Poked around and confirmed the data is coming from the 7201's A port, and appears at the B port if I add loopback. Good, the relays and MAX232s are working. Maybe it's software issues?

Back in 1999 an old PC ISA NIC card could be upcycled to produce an PIC embedded webserver. Here's one I made back then. Just powered it up - it still works! The two smaller chips are MAX232 serial level converter and 24FC256 EEPROM to store the web pages.

ウチだとADM3202はC1±/C2±に0.1uFを繋いだだけだとNGで、V+/V-にもコンデンサの接続が必要でした。理由は不明ですが、aitendoで100個199円のセール品のセラコンだったのが原因かもしれません・・^^;

MAX232に関してはバイパスコンデンサ含めてデータシート通りに5個の1.0uFを接続しましたが、動作的にはOKでした。個人的にはMAX232の方がRS232C信号出力が±14vまで出せるので機器相性が発生しづらく好ましい結果でした。5vが必要ですが。

DIP25Pinハウジングに入れて、動作検証しました。
(1)PC-8001mk2との連携(9600Bps送受信)→OK
(2)PB-1000+FA-7+PBDC32連携→OK!
→ FA-7相手に安定した送受信(4800Bps xon/xoff制御)ができました^^
PBF→EXE変換および、大容量BASICのLOADもOK!
死霊騎士ヴァイオも動く!😭
pico系なら電源5VもVSYS/VBUSの5Vが使えますし、意外と使い勝手は悪くないようです。

RS232Cレベル変換のド定番MAX232を試してみました。性懲りもなく・・^^;
秋月で1個70円

MAX232と言えば5V動作でTTLレベルの信号しか扱えないイメージだったのですが、データシート見るとCMOS(3.3v)信号も扱える模様。
思ったより良いのでは?🤔

はーい。MAX232系のADM2302でやってます~
ただしオレオレなのでBASICの保存だけを想定してまして、1行目に「'」があったらそのあとの文字列をファイル名とみなしてSDに保存する作りになっていますww まあそこはMicroPythonなのでどうとでもなりますがw

I made my own version RS232 for my Vic20 using max232 & a 75ls175 for an RS422/RS485 to connect to the BBC micro to transfer files.
I also made a cable linking a couple of Vic20s for data entry, as no voltage conversion is needed on this.

Generating a negative voltage over -5V is kinda annoying: most chargepumps max out at 5V inversion, and ones that can double-then-invert like the MAX232 aren't high current. We bumped into the TPS65131 (www.digikey.com/en/products/...) while working on our Floppsy design

ADM3202(350円)とMAX232E(70円)、どちらもMAX232互換ということだけど、ADM3202で動いていたところにMAX232Eを取り付けてもTXが上手く認識しない。V+/V-とかにもコンデンサを付けないとだめなのかな?後で実験してみる。

4000 Programmcode-Zeilen später tut die Platine das, was sie soll 😀

Vielleicht ein wenig overengineered, aber es waren halt noch Pins frei.

Leider führen eine Menge Kabel direkt an 750 W Hochfrequenz vorbei. Hoffentlich geht das gut... 😅
