OpenStack on top of Kubernetes (K3s) that runs in VMs which are hosted on a 3-node Proxmox bare metal cluster, aka BabushkaCloud ☁️🚀🔥. This way you could spin up sovereign regions for your own private cloud(s) on any hyperscaler that allows KVM on their BMS, or at your premises, in less than an hour.

tilt is the sauce here, not k3s. tilt is Far Better Docker Compose because it uses k8s primitives. k3s is just the easiest way for me to install a conformant k8s without going insane.

my personal prod environment is a mutant k8s env so I can use the same helm charts in dev, integration, and prod

this is literally why there is a mini-pc with a 7735 and 32GB of RAM and its own pet k3s cluster in my server rack

I installed Ubuntu on a mini-PC, threw k3s on it so it had its own native way to do Helm stuff, jailed it to use ~16GB of 32GB of RAM, installed Claude, and hand it skip-permissions as a matter of course. I rarely if ever run Claude on my laptop anymore and if I do it's to mess with something local.

actually low key considering migrating back to bsky hosted pds because i'm soooo afraid this longhorn k3s setup will shit the bed (and it has once; wasn't pretty)

I just had the weirdest dumbest error on my k3s cluster. Longhorn failed to log out an iSCSI session when cleaning up a volume and so it started screaming about "critical medium failure".

Beautiful. Should've sent a poet.

Okay I have the silliest idea:
k3s-io.github.io
kasmweb.com/vdi-kubernetes

And then deploy a silly amount of these of these in an office workspace

So each keyboard contributes to the vdi cluster while being a vdi client

After years with #K3S + #RaspberryPi in my #HomeLab, my new #ZimaBoard 2 was a good reason for me to try #Proxmox. First two LXC are already running: #Pihole and #Jellyfin 💪

Next: Backup, #TrueNas and a reverse Proxy, after i have figured out how private networking with Proxmox is working.

I gave Claude root access to my server and let it migrate my K8s cluster

50+ chats: Claude provisioned K3s, secured the network, and created migration runbooks. We ran 12 dry runs until perfect

Sowas nervt.

Daten mehr von K3 enthält.😬
Beide Laptops vom gleichen Hersteller. K3s alt, Schullaptop neu.
Keiner hat’s gemerkt?
Wie konnte der Medienmensch sich überhaupt einloggen?
Und wie dumm kann man eigentlich sein?
Ja.

Found myself a dedicated server w. 32G ram, 4 cores for 23 EUR that was too hard to pass up.

I almost managed to firewall myself out of it 🫣

Now setting up k3s with Ansible

I'm beginning to think either a) I'm doing something wrong (most likely!) or b) there is a fundamental flaw in how k3s multi-node DNS is configured. But either way, multi-node k3s setup DNS doesn't work out of the box. I don't want to post a bug yet as I'm sure it's a) but can't see how.
