If the employment rate for Black women had remained the same over the last year, instead of falling, 216,000 more Black women would have jobs RIGHT NOW.

One group flying under the radar in today’s jobs day chatter? Indigenous women. Indigenous women, including American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) & Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander women (NHPI), are not part of the monthly #JobsData release due to a lack of investment. #JobsDay (1/8)

I forgot which labor economist told me this but people leaving the labor force is VERY VERY BAD. You want people to be looking for jobs or working. If they're doing neither?

From December 2024, Black men have increased their labor force participation. However, Black women's labor force participation has remained unchanged.

Using #SahmRule -style indicators with labor utilization shows a gradient: broader measures of underemployment (esp. U-6) flag rising slack—because vulnerable workers tend to be underemployed.
