“The country around, for several days, was illuminated with the fires of the houses they burnt, amongst which is the distillery, about three miles from the town, a work of great value and publick utility, with a large stock of rum and molasses.” digital.lib.niu.edu/islandora/ob...

When the clock face seen on the brewery here (now defunct) was built in 1933 it was the largest single face clock in the world.

It lived on a Coca Cola billboard about a mile and a half down the street. historicpittsburgh.org/islandora/ob...

It's an Irish tune, but seems to have a strong association with Prince Edward Island. The podorythmie suggests either Quebecois or Acadian (though doesn't rule out some other Canadian tradition).

Given the PEI association, it's likely Acadian.

She mentioned the handful of manuscript leaves at FSU. I went online to take a look, and guess what I found? A previously-unidentified leaf of Otto Ege's "Fifty Original Leaves" no. 30, a lovely early 15th-c. Book of Hours for the Use of Paris! repository.lib.fsu.edu/islandora/ob...

Looking at archival AIDS education materials at work and delighted by this UK poster from the 90s, I wouldn’t go with “it’s prejudice that’s queer” today but run back the sentiment on both sides of the pond imo digitalcollections.lib.rochester.edu/islandora/ob...

While the highway dates to the early 1950s, residents of The Run have lived “under a bridge,” so to speak, since 1891. For those who think today’s bridges are in bad shape (they are, no doubt about it), do a quick internet search for the 1921 Greenfield Bridge collapse (photo from 1911). YIKES!

James appears to have left the contents of his wardrobe on Missionary Ridge. In his December 1863 letter to his sister, Kate, he assures her that he came through the fracas in one piece, but lost all his spare kit during the “skedaddle.”

Going through some old college documents for some governance work, chanced upon this student complaint from 1980 (well before my time in this business, obviously).

If only that were the main gripe today.
