I have some thoughts about prescriptive viewpoints on culture vs descriptive. As with the grammarwars, my take is that there is healthy and appropriate room for both.

Currently being sucked into a Reddit argument about the #OxfordComma.

Impatiently waiting for someone to invent the tech that lets me boot other people off the internet for being wrong.

Don’t be a pettifogger! ⚖️ This old-school word describes someone who argues over unimportant details—like debating whether to use an em dash or an en dash (okay, guilty! 😅). What’s a tiny writing rule you’ll defend forever? #Pettifogger #GrammarWars #EditingHumor #DesertMysticEditing

Y'all...communication is the purpose of writing AND speaking. The rest is just dress code. #descriptionailism #grammarwars #illfightaboutanoxfordcommathough🍎
Anyway.........

No one gets everything right, and people shouldn't be hard on themselves (as I frequently see) because grammar stymies them and they can't diagram a sentence. (I can't diagram a sentence.)

Do your best and, if you care to, try to do better.

The rest is commentary.
Here's a thing you should know:

I've been working with extremely adept writers, many of them positively dripping in prizes, for decades, and they don't always get punctuation right, and they don't always know what nonplussed means, and they can't always tell the difference between lead and led.
