Foldable phones have one big problem left, and it’s not the hinge — Foldables aren’t limited by what’s missing, but by what can’t be added.

These square-ish 7-inch foldables makes no sense. Content isn't 1:1 or 4:3 today. But as a six year user of Z Flips, the flip phones makes so much sense. I'll never go back to a non-foldable. It may not seem like much, but "cutting" your phone size in half when you don't use it is pure bliss.

This makes me so glad my fam/friend/colleague chats are mostly cross-platform (if disappointed that they're all Meta-owned), so I can use Android with very little reservation in this regard.

Conversely, as an illustrator and photographer, the lack of stylus support on the latest foldables KILLS me.

I guess a positive outcome of Apple potentially stepping into foldables is foldables in general potentially drop in price as even more companies rush in to make them, bringing more competition. Its annoying but it always seems to take Apple doing something to get everyone else to make moves, lol

Introduction Behind the glossy marketing of foldables, flagship smartphones, and premium televisions, a quieter battle is unfolding deep inside the global display supply chain. Rumors have circulated for years that Apple is considering a foldable iPhone, and even folks who don’t follow every smartphone rumor have become curious enough to ask me about it. ‘Is Apple really making a foldable iPhone?’ was the most common phone question I got over the holidays, and the answer had me thinking.
