Sugar Shindig 2025!

As one of your favorite Cake Spotters, I’m proud to share that I had two winning tables this year!

Each year, I have had the pleasure of supporting this wonderful Fort Bend Education Foundation (FBEF) event.

Parents say FBISD is 'splitting neighborhoods' with new boundary proposal — district disagrees
Some FBISD families say the rezoning plan would split neighborhoods and hurt students… but the district disagrees.

Nimby, selfish bullshit. Petitioning to prevent redevelopment of empty land for possible dense family housing at the corner of hwy 6/hwy 90 behind an HEB. They want fbisd to basically give them this land. They don't want any development of land they don't own

city voted to disannex itself from FBISD in the 70s and was finally ruled legal in '81, idk if it's actually a full city department or not though. City didn't do any ETJ expansion for 20 yrs bc it wanted SMSD boundaries to match and bordering ISDs wouldn't cede territory

it's wild

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

The novel, widely regarded as a masterpiece of 20th century literature, was challenged in April 2024 and pending review by a district reconsideration committee. The book is currently available in 7 high school libraries.

Depending on where and in what subject he works in FBISD, they may fire him or may give him a raise. Hard to say.

Your desire for an individual’s political assa**ination is noted.

Guessing FBISD won’t be a fan, Byron. Good luck with that.

FBISD posted some photos of yesterday’s event in Sugar Land, including this one of me standing between two heroic historian-advocates. On my left is Marilyn Moore, president of the Friends of the Sugar Land 95, and on my right is Debra Blacklock-Sloan.

No. Sounds like bad management. It SHOULD cost someone's job.
I'm not paying more money because of YOUR poor job performance.
In fact, the county should sue that department (every individual) for costing me more money to fix their mistakes.
Better yet, we should sue FBISD for mismanagement.

Huge win for the FBISD school board! Liberals still need to do better about showing up to the polls for local elections, but this makes me breathe a sigh of relief. No more book banning!

Man o’War was recently removed from FBISD libraries due to a fundamental misunderstanding of the Texas Penal Code by the “committee”. Taken as a whole, the book is NOT considered harmful or obscene, yet it was removed from all HS libraries.

FBISD has one of the most- maybe *the* most- restrictive local library materials policies we have seen. The policy goes far beyond what is required by HB 900, and any other state or federal laws.
FBISD removed Boy Toy—a thoughtful, age-appropriate novel on trauma—without clear review or justification. If based on discomfort, not policy, this risks censorship and legal issues over students' rights. Transparency matters.
