Tests concluants pour l’explorateur d’exoplanètes RISTRETTO
Le projet RISTRETTO, dédié à l’observation de Proxima b – l’exoplanète la plus proche du Système solaire – franchit une nouvelle étape: plusieurs composants clés de ce spectrographe de haute précision ont été prototypés et testés avec succès par les ateliers du Département d’astronomie de l’Université de Genève (UNIGE). En outre, les simulations globales de l’instrument révèlent que Proxima b sera détectable par RISTRETTO, tout comme l’éventuelle présence d’oxygène ou d’eau dans l’atmosphère de la planète, dont la taille et la température rappellent celles de la Terre. Ces résultats sont à découvrir dans deux études publiées dans Astronomy & Astrophysics.
