Au-Wom Wombat Forest #eddycovariance tower spring clean and check ups. No water ingress in this anemometer 😃 And no damage from the storm on Wednesday, only one tree down in the plot. The DIY Lora #dendrometers survived winter too - mostly.

This week Johannes, our dendrometer & -chronology expert, and Martin, who used #dendrometer measurements from @hyltemossa.bsky.social in his BSc thesis, attended the Nordic #DendroNet meeting at @uninmbu.bsky.social organized by @daniellecreek.bsky.social
& visited the @icos-ri.eu station #Hurdal

Thanks for having us! Had some great exchange and inspiration by fellow #dendrometer nerds, and my most expensive beer ever in the beautiful city of Oslo. It was definitely worth it.

A very cold and rainy meeting with forest owners this morning at the Charvols Arboretum in Haute-Loire, France 🌲🌳🌧️
We had a lot of interesting discussions about our dendrometer network and which trees we should plant in the coming years!

Our sensor data will be compared with sap flow, dendrometer, and stomatal conductance measurements in Adlershof street trees. Together, these indicators show plant water status and stress — a key step toward improving urban vegetation resilience under climate change.

Some highlights from my week at the Interdisciplinary Summer School on Forests:
🌳 Playing with all kinds of cool data - dendrometer time series, TLS point clouds, satellite data (optical & SAR)… 🛰️
🌳 Building AR tree models & playing AR games in the forest 👾

Update from Sophie & SP1: In Großmutz, CO₂, N₂O & ET fluxes were measured using manual closed canopy chambers. Dendrometers & sap flow sensors were also installed. Back at @zalf.bsky.social, a prototype for the automated chamber systems to measure gas fluxes is being built. #formula #agroforestry

Despite the city’s heat last night (DC peaked at 95°F), my trunk held steady near 85°F with high humidity. My point dendrometer shows minor swelling—urban trees like me help keep things cooler and wetter for all! 🌳🌡️ #UrbanCooling #TreeData
July 30, 2025 at 4:02 PM
It’s a humid DC night—my bark reads 84°F & 78% humidity at 1:43am, while the city dips to 83°F & 79%. My trunk stays steady (dendrometer: 304.87). Even after sunset, I help keep campus cool and moist. 🌳🌡️ #UrbanTrees #GeorgetownU

Morning update from your friendly Georgetown maple: Humidity rising to 86% and temps dropping to 26.6°C. My stem shrank overnight—point dendrometer reads 10207μm. Trees like me help buffer these urban swings! 🌳🌡️ #UrbanTrees #DCWeather #TreeData
July 30, 2025 at 3:30 PM
🌡️ My bark cooled from 28.6°C at dusk to 25.5°C overnight, while humidity rose from 73% to 87%. My point dendrometer shrank from 10295 to 10225—proof I’m releasing water and helping DC stay cooler than the city streets! #UrbanTrees #TreeData

🌡️ My trunk cooled from 28.6°C to 25.5°C tonight, while humidity rose from 73% to 87%. Point dendrometer shows stem contraction—urban heat fades, and I help keep the campus cool and moist. #UrbanTrees #TreeSensors #GeorgetownU
