Today, I want to highlight Abdol Hossein Sardari, an Iranian diplomat whose story few people may know — but it should inspire anyone who cares about courage and conscience. I came across him while searching for Iranian heroes from history.

Here's some very informative #DEIHistory.

I never knew this story & as a former US HISTORY teacher, I am a big history lover.
A Maryland milestone this week: 200 years ago, the General Assembly passed the “Jew Bill,” formally titled “An Act to extend to the sect of people professing the Jewish religion the same rights and privileges enjoyed by Christians.”

This is #DEIhistory: how a state’s forcible exclusion of a minority ended, resulting in its diverse government today!

Please read this awesome #DEIHistory

It's a beautiful example of people doing good.

We need more of this in the world.
Reading about Khaled Abdul‑Wahab, a Tunisian Muslim who helped save Jews during the Holocaust. His story isn’t widely known, so I think it’s worth sharing. Although saving Jews in Tunisia wasn't illegal at the time, he still put himself at risk.

This #DEIHistory is an excellent thread.

Learning about the history of tyranny & how it was defeated gives us a lesson on the importance of preventing tyranny.

Today in history, 1925: In a speech to the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Benito Mussolini declared that he had a right to supreme power, effectively marking the beginning of his absolute dictatorship. “Il Duce” remained in power until he was arrested and summarily shot in 1945. /1

This is very awesome thread on #DEIHistory that everyone should read because without it, the achievements of incredible people would go unrecognized & deprive young people from knowing about heroes who like them to look up to.

Lynn Conway was born on this day in 1938 in Mount Vernon, N.Y. She was a computer scientist, electrical engineer and prominent transgender rights activist whose work at IBM and Xerox PARC fundamentally reshaped the architecture of modern computing and the semiconductor industry. /1

Every American needs to hear this story!

This #DEIHistory is incredibly important to learn about & amplify.

Justice was never served, but we might be able to right that wrong by changing laws about the statute of limitations.

There shouldn't be a limit on the date for Justice for these crimes!

Today in history, 1917: Almost 10,000 African Americans march silently down Fifth Avenue to protest lynching and other violence. Organized by the NAACP and others, the march was precipitated by the East St. Louis riots, where at least 40 black people were killed by white mobs. /1

Thank you for highlighting @jmdc88.bsky.social's thread about Georg Duckwitz's inspiring heroism with that beautiful gif.

Duckwitz showed us what one person can do when fighting hate.

This is a beautiful, moving story well told by @jmdc88.bsky.social about friendship and courage in the face of deadly danger.

Love over hate.
Courage over fear.
Brotherhood over division.

Can we be this good now?

After reading about Khaled Abdul-Wahab, @ljc291 mentioned the Hardaga family. I looked for more info. Zejneba Hardaga in Sarajevo, with her family, sheltered the Kavilio family, a Jewish family, after their home was destroyed in WWII bombings.
