I loved cycling across this fabulous historic Iron girder bridge over the River Spey in Moray on my cycle circumnavigation of Britain. It's one of the highlights of the 5000 mile ride.

This weekend it collapsed.

Please restore this national treasure!

The circumnavigation (driving) distance around Lake Michigan is about 1,100 miles.

The circumference of the Dead Sea is about 84 miles.

I just looked it up on wikipedia, I think I could have won that circumnavigation one without even using the starting budget.

Let's not mention the match.

My first circumnavigation of the ground today. I still don't know what to make of it all. But it does look the part 💙

Their goal: break the world record of circumnavigation.

Our goal: better understand how athletes manage sleep and performance in extreme conditions.

Reminds one of Jeanne Baret who completed the circumnavigation in 1769, making her the first woman to have sailed around the world; and Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz, the first woman to sail around the world completely on her own, completing her 401-day voyage in 1978. Amazing women.

My father, who is Jewish, served in the United States Coast Guard for four years, and then spent ten years in the Reserves. During his tour of duty, he was on the USCGC Spar during the historic 1957 Northwest Passage circumnavigation.

Fuck this fucking bullshit straight into the sun. With a cactus.
Perfectly sums up Trump regime: U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols. Instead the Coast Guard will classify the Nazi-era insignia as “potentially divisive” under its new guidelines.

Tomorrow we continue our series on the true story of Pan Am California Clipper's remarkable, forced circumnavigation of the globe in WW2.

In India, with Christmas looming, it's hard for the crew's thoughts not to turn to the families waiting for them at home. theupfront.media/the-long-way...

The Goal, in words.. and visuals!!!

The goal of #oceancyclist is...
One Million Cars Parked!!!!

how many people started cycling during the #pandemic? only to #rack their #rides once it was "over." Well, if every one of those neuveaux cyclists started riding day in and day out.. we'd be on our way

There are tons!

Slacking (loose lines are easy to step on damage/tripping hazard)

Smooth sailing (duh)

Scuttlebutts were the first water coolers

Doldrums: areas without wind for weeks. My mom warned she would kill my dad in them when they were considering circumnavigation

Who else has some?

an airship has a staying power and endurance and efficiency that's necessary in a multiversal setting traversed via skies where there's so *much* sky distance to cross compared to earth. flying from Tozarra to Melorin is literally a circumnavigation of our earth kind of distance
