#AsPredicted
The package formerly known as papercheck has changed its name to metacheck! We're checking more than just papers, with functions to assess OSF projects, github repos, and AsPredicted pre-registrations, with more being developed all the time.

Exciting new addition to the AsPredicted and ResearchBox research infrastructure toolbox: AsCollected ascollected.org A platform to document results provenance - where did data come from, who collected it, and who cleaned and analyzed it. So important!

subgroup result 😭😭😭 this is in a lab in which all student theses are preregistered, but only on aspredicted so that the studies that don’t “work” don’t reflect badly on the lab.

First 4 months for AsPredicted
149 Authors
121 Pre-registrations
35 Already public

Now with shorter URLs e.g., https://AsPredicted.org/nfj4s.pdf

The topic of tools for preregistration was brought up. Although aspredicted is easiest, it's a bit sketchy. Because an aspredicted preregistration can't be found if it isn't shared, people could register 100 approaches, and only report the one that works. @GKAguirre #VSS2021

At the CredibilityLab (currently hosting Aspredicted and Researchbox) we have a new platform in the works, AsCollected, that will help with this. We welcome input from experienced parties.

Use AsPredicted, keep the registration within 1 page, add the resulting PDF to the paper appendix, easy.

@uri_sohn Would be nice to be able to post an addendum to an aspredicted registration, after study is done, to indicate whether/where was

imho RIDIE is the only registry that is truly friendly to QED studies—most other registries (I’ll add AsPredicted) allow/accommodate non-expts, but the templates for QE work are either boundlessly open-ended or dominated by experimental language that can make it feel like square peg + round hole.

I agree! for those researchers I know who don't use it (yet), I am certain the UI will not be what keeps them from using the OSF permanently. It's just a factor that made them postpone it (and use aspredicted and other tools) or delegate it entirely to their teams.

[119] A Hidden Confound in a Psych Methods Pre‑registrations Critique - Data Colada
A forthcoming paper in Psych Methods (.pdf) had a set of coders evaluate 300 pre-registrations in terms of how informative they were about several study attributes (e.g., hypotheses, analysis, DVs). T...

TFW it's hard to follow a paper's description of a study but the AsPredicted pre-registration makes it perfectly clear.

Standardization is so valuable.

Awesome, thanks! So I don't even have to pass through aspredicted, I just archive a release on Zenodo (linked to GH I presume) and refer to this one as the planned replication code?

New example for AsPredicted.
My prediction is that in that scenario, he blames the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which puts out employment data. Calls them corrupt, run by Democrats, out to get him. Fires people there, insists their numbers cannot be trusted, White House puts out its own fictitious data to make Trump look good

Don't know why it is a word doc and that is weird, but I would bet is based on aspredicted form where Q1 is plausibly not very informative and Q2 is hypotheses

Consider adding <a href="http://ResearchBox.org" class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link="bsky">http://ResearchBox.org to your list of recommended data repositories

Unique features include searchable scripts and data, standardized codebooks for *all* datasets, & very fast file previews. It's integrated with AsPredicted and EASY to use.

Colada[115] shows the prevalence of pre-registrations in papers published in 2022, with lessons to improve in 2023+

Some people put up documentation on their own websites and anything posted there would be impossible to track/verify. OSF and AsPredicted and some others offer that arms length guarantee that your preregistration will stay put.

Does anyone have a good editable document for registering a systematic review undergraduate dissertation? Probably someone more akin to an aspredicted template, rather than Prospero, but just a useful exercise to complete with supervisor in lieu of an ethics form
August 21, 2024 at 12:54 PM
Yeah! I've stated that aspredicted is of limited value as a preregistration platform for exactly that reason.
