Did you know that back in the 90s, there was an anime series that was centered around a girl from Kenya? I would like to introduce you to Nadia.

From the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the show is called Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water is a 1990-1991 Japanese anime series inspired by Jules Verne's works, particularly Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, following a young inventor Jean and circus acrobat Nadia as they journey the world aboard Captain Nemo's submarine, the Nautilus, to uncover the secret of Nadia's powerful Blue Water crystal and thwart a global conspiracy. Nadia La Arwall is a 14 year-old Kenyan circus performer. Nadia is quite stubborn, easily irritable, socially inept, but she is also an incredibly sympathetic and empathetic person who cares for the well being of others, often placing their needs before her own, and has the ability to talk with animals. For example, she is able to communicate easily with her little lion, King. Nadia is also known among those who have knowledge of the blue water for being its possessor. The blue jeweled pendant Nadia possesses is named the Blue Water. In the series, it is a key item sought by the Grandis Gang and the Neo-Atlanteans. The pendant has ties to Nadia's lost family and Atlantean origins. Nadia as an adult woman. A flash forward of events at the end of the anime series.

It's Day 3 of #28DaysofBlackAnime. Black Lagoon is one of my favorite anime shows. Dutch, the leader of Lagoon Company, reminds me so much of the Uncs in the family who don't talk much, but has seen and been through a lot.
Dutch is the leader of the Lagoon Company and presents himself as a former U.S. Vietnam War veteran in the Black Lagoon series. He is the captain and owner of the PT boat Black Lagoon. Dutch functions as the leader and primary negotiator of the Lagoon Company. He is incredibly level-headed and always committed to completing missions, even when those missions might contrast with his morals. Dutch has claimed to be a former United States Navy sailor who fought in the Vietnam War, particularly in Task Force 116 of the Brown Water Navy, also claiming that he lied about his age when he enlisted. Shortly before the end of the war, Dutch presumably went AWOL, escaped to Thailand and started working as a mercenary. He founded the Lagoon Company at some point during his mercenary career. It is unknown how or when Dutch got to Roanapur, but in the city he maintains contact with some friends using a local payphone to call the international code 10013 to get updates and inform them of money transfers.

Day 2 of #28DaysofBlackAnime. Introducing Canary from the anime series: Hunter x Hunter. Don't let the little girl you see before you fool you. She may look like a butler, but she's a dedicated protector.
Canary, the apprentice butler of the Zoldyck family, makes her first manga appearance in Chapter 41, titled "Trial". In this chapter, she encounters Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio at the Testing Gate (specifically the "Entrance to the Zoldyck Property") during the Zoldyck Family Arc. For context regarding her appearance, she is a 13-year-old girl with dark purple hair in the 2011 anime and has a red/brown hair color in the 1999 version, acting as a loyal but conflicted guard for Killua. Canary is initially introduced as a ruthless guardian who does not hesitate to attack trespassers, but she is not as heartless as she pretends to be, and just for a fraction of a second, her eyes convey gentleness or concern, although she tries to suppress it. Canary grew up in Meteor City, a junkyard city inhabited by outcasts. People who live there do not exist in any official records, and the existence of the city itself is known to very few people. When she was ten years old, within minutes, she took down a Blacklist Hunter together with a hundred of his men attempting to go through her post. Her weapon is a rod that she always carries with her. In the 2011 anime adaptation, she is shown to be adept with assassination techniques like Shadow Step, although she was not aware of its name and claimed she might have learned during her days in Meteor City.

Let's kick things off with our man Usopp from the anime, One Piece.

Usopp is a fictional character from the anime and manga One Piece, serving as the sniper for the Straw Hat Pirates, known for his long nose, cowardice, and talent for lying, inventing, and marksmanship. He dreams of becoming a brave warrior of the sea, inspired by his father, Yasopp, a pirate from Shanks' crew, and often uses a slingshot with various ammunition, developing unique weapons and tactics to help his crew despite his fears. Key aspects of Usopp Role: Sniper for the Straw Hat Pirates, inventor, and tactician. Origin: Syrup Village, where he was a close friend to Kaya and captain of the "Usopp Pirates". Dream: To become a brave warrior of the sea, like his father. Personality: Initially a chronic liar and coward, he is defined by his growth as he overcomes his fears to protect his friends, earning titles like "Sogeking" and "God Usopp". Skills: Exceptional marksman with a slingshot, gifted inventor (creating weapons like the Climatact), and a skilled artist (designed the Straw Hat flag). Development: His character arc is noted for his relatable struggle with fear and his development from a self-proclaimed "liar" to a hero who finds true courage, culminating in the awakening of his Observation Haki. Current look of Usopp of the Straw Hat Pirates in the anime series One Piece after the initial time skip. Usopp in the Netflix live-action series One Piece is portrayed by American actor Jacob Romero Gibson.
