South Huish Marsh, S Devon this PM. The 'braces' on Richie M's #GreenWingedTeal practically fluoresced in the winter ☀️ as it fed on the pool by the overflow car park. Thanks @southhamsbirder.bsky.social @robmurphy.bsky.social @stephmurphy.bsky.social & Mike P. #DevonBirds #UKBirding #RareBirdsUK

There were 2 #BlackRedstarts at S Devon's #HopesNose this morning. An imm m & an imm/fem were on the south side together, with much chasing and interaction. Increasingly mobile and elusive, they had melted away by early lunchtime. Mike P's lovely photos 👍. #DevonBirds #UKBirding #birds

A very pleasing 1w Caspian Gull on the Axe Estuary at midday. More than happy if they keep coming like this for the rest of the winter. 😎

Finally went to look at the Lesser Crested Tern across the river. It's been there a week so I thought I'd better go see, hoping the crowds might have thinned a bit. Also an excuse for a cycle ride in fine weather.

Visiting family in Devon so paid a visit to the Exe Estuary today and had great views of the wintering Lesser Crested Tern (Thalasseus bengalensis) at Turf Lock. A superb bird. #DevonBirds #UKWildlife

South Devon's #DesertWheatear hunkered down in gorse on a clifftop at #BolberryDown yesterday. By 1.00pm it had dried out a little in the strong wind. #DevonBirds #UKBirding @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social #RareBirdUK

The photos not going to win any prizes, but the Dawlish Warren Lesser Crested Tern was my first British tick since the Baikal Teal in 2022 (I don't twitch much these days!) #DevonBirds

Cockwood Steps - After frustratingly distant views in poor light, the Lesser Crested Tern showed much better flying up the Exe showing all it's key features before settling back at Warren Point. Another superb December bird down here in Devon! #UKBirding #DevonBirds

Well there I was pottering about local fields & wood when news came out of tern 1st royal then elegant but now narrowed down to Royal/West African Crested I believe, nice unexpected tern of avents anyhow. Thanks to Derek Carter for use of better pics. #UKBirding. #Devonbirds.

Went to Dawlish Warren today and got the Lesser Crested Tern! very far views but luckily got it from the help of another birder! also got the Yellow Browed Warbler at the main pond which was very lucky since it’s been quite elusive :) #devonbirds #birdingUK

African crested tern is most likely of this tern at cockwood Devon. Bird so far away as pics show. A first for Britain if it is. #UKBirding. #Devonbirds.
