Jesse Jackson was a champion for civil rights, economic justice, and world peace.

I have always remembered his moving call for moral clarity at the 1988 DNC.

When I heard Jesse Jackson's call and response again the other day I couldn't help thinking about the survivors, and those who didn't: I Am. Somebody.

Throughout his life, Rev. Jackson fought tirelessly for workers, both at home and around the world. At every turn, he reminded us that the fight for good jobs, living wages, and union rights is inseparable from the fight for justice and equality. May he rest in power.

Oh please. I’ve been engaged in politics since 1967. I know all about the role of the black Churches in the civil rights and other movements. I’ve spent some time in the States.

My point was MLK, Jackson and Obama are known primarily for their politics and political impact, not their religion.
