“Race science and rape apologetics” —
the scholarship you hear about on “edgelord podcasts”
They go together because babymaking is a duty of the edgelord class, which must ramp up the birth rate and gift their superior genes to the next generations… 🤮
Epstein & Co HATE humanities:
“It offered intellectually insecure reactionaries a pass. Without opening a book they could dismiss all of feminism, postcolonial & queer studies...& devote their brains instead to the race science & rape apologetics that now pass for scholarship on edgelord podcasts.”

“Epstein’s network may not have known everything, but many of them knew enough,” our columnist Ezra Klein writes. “Whether they believed his denials or didn’t care about the crimes, there was a solidarity, or at least a transactionalism, that protected Epstein and enabled his abuses.”
Opinion | What They Wanted From Jeffrey Epstein
His network may not have known everything, but it is hard to deny that many of them knew enough to know better.

Leon Botstein, president of @bardcollege.bsky.social, has repeatedly made public statements about his relationship with the pedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein that have turned out to be misleading, incomplete, or untrue. I'm going to make a thread to compile them all here.

@mehdirhasan.bsky.social and @naomiaklein.bsky.social discuss how Trump and Epstein’s elite circle fear mass movements that could bring them down.

Devastating investigation of how the world’s biggest bank, JPMorgan, facilitated Epstein’s money-laundering &!sex-trafficking because he had a lucratively large account, helped them make more money (eg in getting into hedge funds), & had a top exec (Jes Staley) as a close crony.

It’s a rough moment when you realize any “falling out” between Epstein and Trump was likely because they became competitors and then you have to think about who took over operations after Epstein was imprisoned and then that’s just…a sobering thing to consider.
Rep. Robert Garcia: "Why was Mar-a-Lago a location where women continued to be trafficked from. We have questions for President Trump. And the broader issue here is why wasn't this investigated when these accusations were heard by the FBI years ago?"

"Billionaires like thinkers who see their exploitation of the weak as good and natural. Epstein funneled ~$20m a year to academic men who shared his ideology [and got] to hold forth in formal sessions at Harvard, condemning feeding and caring for the poor as if he were making a scholarly argument."

This is the same approach to class that all kinds of supremacists use to make their supremacism look principled.

States rights for Black enslavement & Jim Crow, religious freedom for oppressing women & LGBTQ+ folks (& ppl of color), etc.

“The contrast is striking: In Europe, some people whose names come up in the Epstein files are facing consequences — but in the U.S., not so much.”
Epstein files fallout takes down elite figures in Europe, while U.S. reckoning is muted
Unlike in Europe, officials in the U.S. with ties to Epstein have largely held their positions of power.
